At the recently concluded GQ Fashion Night in Mumbai, Deepika Padukone looked ethereal in a black and copper shimmer Sabyasachi saree. Even as stylists admired her unique couture experiment, her makeup and hair-do were as astute as her garment. Natural look with a smokey eye did the trick. Is that the latest trend that makeup artists are looking forward to?
Smokey eyes is not a child’s play to pull-off. One needs to be aware of the right kind of makeup combination to exude the elegance that it is meant to. And Deepika seems to have carried the look with élan. The mix of greys and browns in this eye makeup not only gives the precise dramatic look, but also makes the lady look much more daring and confident in her choice and style. As they say, what you wear, the makeup, clothes or a hairdo, each of these comprise a personality statement.
With the smokey-eye, it is essential to have the right makeup combination. Following are few points to be kept in mind as you work-up your charms and cast a spell with this elegant look:
Matt Base
The base should be matt and perfectly matching the skin tone. Avoid an over-use of compact that leaves the skin looking unnaturally white. That unnatural fairness is a BIG NO from all makeup experts. The key is to find a base that is of the same tone or only a shade lighter than your natural skin. Also avoid caking-up too much foundation. An even skin-tone to supplement the dramatic eyes is what we are looking at
Blush
Keep the blush to a minimum in this look because often the colour palette of smokey eyes and the rouge of the blush do not complement. Hence the trick is to add just a hint of that rosy pink to your cheeks to give a semblance of the pink highlight to your cheekbones. And the idea is also to apply the blush making a c-pattern, moving from the cheek towards the temple. That is where the hue needs to be in view.
Nude Lips
With a smokey eye look, we want the attention to be on just single feature of the face, that is the eyes. Hence rest needs to be kept toned down or minimal. For lips we suggest you go with brown-beige nudes or a matt light pink colour. Any light shade of pink in matt can be opted for. We would not prefer the glossy versions though.
