In numerous parts of the world, June is the ‘Gay Pridemonth’, devoted to praising the LGBTQ people group and their battle against discrimination and social ostracisation. In the US, the ‘Gay Pridemonth’ has its underlying foundations in the Stonewall Riots of 1969. The Stonewall Riots, or as many consider it the ‘Stonewall Uprising’, was a progression of impromptu and inconsistent exhibitions held by the LGBTQ people group in and around New York.
Commemorations are held during this month for those individuals from the local area who have been lost to detest violations or HIV/AIDS. The reason for pride month is to perceive the effect that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people have had on history locally, broadly, and globally. Since then the world has witnessed many LGBT marriages and the love between them.
Shannon and Seema are one of them and their marriage was the first Indian lesbian wedding. It was love at first sight for Shannon and Seema who met each other interestingly at a fitness boot camp six years prior in the US. Their destiny led them to a beautiful and spectacular wedding.
This was the first Indian lesbian wedding to have occurred in America. The lively and close photos of the wedding show the two of them are in profound love.
Shannon said that for her in any event, it was love at first sight when they initially met at a boot camp fitness class that she was instructing.
At first sight, Shanon declared her love for Seema to another instructor and proposed her wish to marry her. And, after 6 years Shannon’s desire came true in a wonderful way. Their traditional Indian marriage highlighted many ancient rituals, including the ritual of ‘tying the knot’. They also performed the tradition of exchanging their rings. Although there is no tradition of the first kiss in an Indian wedding the couple included it.
Their love marriage made history, as it was the first-ever Indian lesbian wedding in America. The Indian society is profoundly conservative, everybody knows, and with regards to sexual orientation, it reaches its peak, yet at the same time, Shannon and Seema figured out how to convince their parents and the rest of the family to get their special day together with bliss. Seema’s family even brought her to the function in the ‘Doli’ in the traditional way.
The couple is truly a symbol of love and inspiration for all the LGBT couples.
